How To Configure Windows XP To Automatically Login
If you would prefer not to be prompted to logon every time you start up your computer, auto login can be enabled by following this simple procedure.
Run the command prompt using your favourite method.
- Method 1.
From the Start Menu: Click Start - All programs - Accessories - Command Prompt. - Method 2.
From the Start Menu: Click Start - Run.
Type 'cmd' and click 'OK'. - Method 3. The quickest, Using Windows Shortcuts.
Hold down the windows key and press the R key.
Type 'cmd' and click 'OK'.
From the command prompt type 'control userpasswords2'.
A User Accounts control panel will appear and if you have used Windows 2000 in the past you will probably recognise it.

Highlight the user you would like to automatically log in and untick the 'Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer' option and click 'OK'.
Enter the selected users password, confirm it and click 'OK'.
Reboot and Windows XP will automatically login to your selected user.
