How To Stop Windows XP's 'You Have Unused Icons On Your Desktop' Message

Most of us just ignore Windows XP's very annoying 'You Have Unused Icons On Your Desktop' message but it is very easy to stop. Just follow this simple procedure.

1. Open the display properties dialogue box using your favourite method.

   • Method 1.
     Right click an empty part of the desktop and click 'Properties'.
   • Method 2.
     From the Control Panel double click the 'Display' icon.
2. Click the 'Desktop' tab.
3. Click the 'Customize Desktop' button.
4. Untick the 'Run Desktop Cleanup Wizard every 60 days' option and click 'OK'.

So easy, and you put up with it for how long?
